Since 1956, commercial kibble has been produced using a process called extrusion. Extrusion employs extreme pressurized steam and high temperatures to cook a dough-like substance and is pushed through a cutting machine forming the kibble we recognize today.
This high heat extrusion process destroys the naturally occurring vitamins, minerals and enzymes that are present in the fresh ingredients. While synthetic versions are added back in later, their bioavailability (absorption by the body) are compromised compared to those from the fresh ingredient.
Just as humans have started to stray away from highly processed foods it is time to do the same for your pets. At Pooches Kitchen, we use human-grade proteins, carbs, fruits and veggies cooked at low temperatures maintaining the nutritional value of the food and maximizing health benefits for your pup.
